Lizzo paid tribute to the late Tina Turner by performing her own version of the iconic singer’s hits at a concert Wednesday night.

As Blavity reported, the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll” died Wednesday at the age of 83. A spokesperson who confirmed the news said she died peacefully at her home in Switzerland.

After learning of Turner’s passing, the “About Damn Time” singer and her team thought of a creative way to honor the musician. People reported that Lizzo channeled the superstar by performing one of her classic songs while on tour at the Footprint Center in Phoenix.

The 35-year-old wore a green sequined gown with a high slit and took the stage and shared her thoughts on Turner’s life. Lizzo said rock ‘n’ roll wouldn’t exist without Turner’s contribution to the genre.

“There wouldn’t be no rock ‘n’ roll without Tina Turner!” the Detroit native said in a Twitter video shared to her account, adding that she wanted to “celebrate” the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.”

Lizzo then started to perform “Proud Mary,” a song written by Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty, as Turner had her own rendition of the tune. She first performed the track on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1970, per People.

In her later years, the Tennessee native had been living with her husband, Erwin Bach, in their Switzerland home. As Blavity previously reported, Turner experienced several health issues over the years, including intestinal cancer and kidney failure, leading to a kidney transplant in 2017.

“With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly,” Turner’s representatives said in a statement on Facebook.
