As we wait for All Eyez On Me to finally hit the big screens on June 16, the Tupac and Biggie project is coming along quite nicely on the small screen.
USA's Unsolved: The Murders of Biggie and Tupac (working title) is a scripted true crime serial drama pilot that goes into the police investigations of the murders of rap legends Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur. Directed by Emmy winner Anthony Hemingway (The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story), the series is based on the book, Murder Rap: The Untold Story of Biggie Smalls & Tupac Shakur Murder Investigations, written by former LAPD Detective Greg Kading who led multiple task forces investigating the murders.
Earlier this week, USA announced their latest additions to the well-rounded cast. Two-time Grammy-nominated award singer/songwriter, Luke James, will play Sean "Diddy" Combs, the successful founder of Bad Boy Records and Biggie's right-hand man in the 90s. Luke James previous played Johnny Gill in BET's The New Edition Story miniseries. Aisha Hinds, known for her Emmy-nominated series All The Way, will portray Voletta Wallace, Biggie's mother who has never stopped seeking justice for her son. Singer/actress Letoya Luckett will play Sharitha Golden, estranged wife of Death Row records CEO Suge Knight. Luckett has had recurring roles in Rosewood and Ballers, but she's notoriously known as an original member of Destiny's Child.
A few months ago, it was announced that USA already cast Wavyy Jonez as Biggie Smalls/Christopher Wallace, Marcc Rose as Tupac Shakur, Jimmi Simpson as Detective Russell Poole and Bokeem Woodbine as Officer Daryn Dupree.
