The Back-ish actress revealed on Instagram Story that she underwent surgery to remove the “large” cyst that she had been suffering from for over four years.
Martin is using her own health struggles as an example for people to learn the importance of self-care. She took to social media over the weekend to discuss her recent ovarian cyst removal procedure.

“If you missed my live, long story short, I had surgery for my large ovarian cyst that gave me constant pain for 4+ years,” she wrote. “I really don’t remember any of this sh*t because of the anesthesia, lol. But I will say that I am very grateful to have family and educators by my side in support of this process.”
On Saturday, she posted the message along with a monochrome video taken inside the hospital.

The young star went into detail about why it is so crucial for young women to take care of themselves physically and be their own health advocates.
“The only reason I am sharing this is so I can hopefully spread awareness and share my experience to the young women out there that may be going through the same thing or have difficult menstrual cycles. You are never alone. Listen to your body. It always shows you signs. Health is wealth,” she elaborated.

Ovarian cysts are fairly typical, usually painless, and harmless, according to Mayo Clinic. The body may however experience symptoms like pelvic pain, pressure, or heaviness in your abdomen, and bloating if ovarian cysts “turn or burst open (rupture)”.
5.
If you suddenly develop severe abdominal or pelvic pain, you should see a doctor. Warning signs include pain accompanied by fever, vomiting, and/or shock. These symptoms include cold, clammy skin, rapid breathing, and a feeling of faintness or lightheadedness.
