Metro Boomin is unarguably one of the super producers of this generation that has championed the sounds we hear across the airwaves in the music mainstream. He cut his teeth producing two of the biggest artists of the last decade, often simultaneously, even when those two artists didn't see eye to eye – Young Thug and Future. And through the clever use of shout outs from both artists as the tag on his sonic work, "Metro Boomin want some more…" from Thug, and "If Young Metro don't trust you, I'm gon shoot you" from Future Hendrix, Metro has built a brand that is more recognizable than some of the stars he makes tracks for.
Well now, it's time to put that star power to good use. And in the tradition of many super producers in the past like Dr. Dre, Timbaland, The Neptunes, even more recently Mike Will Made It, and DJ Mustard, Young Metro is going to add another hat on top of beatsmith for hire and become the owner of his own record label.
He dropped the news in an interview with GQ, where he said, "I’m heavily influenced by a lot of people like Dre, Pharrell, and Kanye. They’re all big-time tastemakers and trendsetters, just for culture, period. So I strive to do that as well. I’m starting my label up, so of course I’m going to keep bringing new things to the table: new artists, new sounds, and new vibes for people to love and live with.”
Not only is Metro going to release his very first studio LP under his own imprint, but he's also actively looking to sign and break new talent, which has become one of the marks of a true hitmaker behind the board. But something tells us Metro Boomin won't have to go too far to find the next sonic sensation waiting to blow up on Soundcloud, his choices have been more than solid so far.
