A 20-year-old Miami rapper was shot and killed after being released on bond for a gun charge.

Baby Cino, born Timothy Starks, was just released from Miami-Dade jail after posting bond on a gun charge after being arrested on Tuesday. His red Nissan was hailed with gun bullets by a gunman in a separate car on the Palmetto Expressway in the middle of traffic.

According to the Miami Herald, Starks was still wearing the wristband given to inmates at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center when his body was identified after being shot in the head. His car was hit over 40 times.

The Miami-Dade police identified Starks and a friend who picked him up from jail, Dante’ Collins Banks, 20, who was also wounded in the attack. However, officers have not identified a suspect but said a dark-colored vehicle was seen fleeing the scene.

Starks was part of the “Boss Life” gang based in the Little Haiti area in Miami, Florida, a source told the Miami Herald.

In his main song, “Big Haiti Shottas,” he and a crew rap about violence in an apartment building near Northwest Third Avenue and 56th Street. The video has over 21,000 views and is also dedicated to Gary “Melo” Laguerre, an 18-year-old gunned down in a drive-by shooting in 2020.

On Tuesday night, Starks had been arrested in Opa-Locka by Miami-Dade Police’s Robbery Intervention Detail unit members.

According to WSVN 7 in Miami, Banks suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach and had to be airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition.

Banks’ mother said she was on the phone with her son when the shooting happened, stating that her son is OK but shaken up.

“My son was OK,” she said. “He was talking. He was just shook up ’cause his friend got shot.”

She said he was still in pain on Thursday, but he is recovering after being released from the hospital.

All northbound lanes were closed for hours during the investigation. A few hours later, the express lanes reopened, but the rest of the northbound lanes did not reopen until just before 11 p.m.
