You folks, who are rabid fans of the original comic book series that the TV show is based on, will have to chime in with your wisdom on this.
What I can tell you with certainty is that Lawrence Gilliard Jr. (likely best known for his role as D’Angelo Barksdale on The Wire) will join the season 4 cast of AMC’s hit zombie drama series The Walking Dead, in a new series regular role, playing a character named Bob Stookey – described as the local town drunk of Woodbury and a former army medic, who descended into alcoholism before the zombie apocalypse; and after the apocalypse, was one of many survivors to join The Governor’s settlement in Woodbury.
This means that there’ll be 4 black series regulars on the hit AMC show (emphasis on series regulars), which, I believe, will be a history-making event for The Walking Dead – assuming none of them succumbs to zombie bites early on in the upcoming new season!
There’s even a chance that we might see Lennie James back again as Morgan, for an episode or two.
Careful there AMC – if you add anymore black characters, people might suddenly get the idea that this is a “black show,” and you don’t want that, do you?
But seriously, what might this poster, which AMC has unveiled for Comic-Con (where attendees might be getting some firsthand scoop on what to expect when the series returns in the fall for a 4th season), foretell/suggest/tells us/etc, about what’s coming – especially for Tyreese and Michonne?
Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, and Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon, also clearly feature.
Also, don’t forget, starting Thursday, July 4th at 1PM ET/PT, AMC invites viewers to tune-in to “The Walking Dead Season 4 Preview Weekend,” hosted by Kevin Smith from the Atlanta-based set where the cast are currently filming the upcoming, highly-anticipated season 4 of the hit series. Smith will talk to the cast and crew and share behind-the-scenes footage from the upcoming new season.
