Breastfeeding is still the most popular means by which mothers choose to nourish their babies. Among its many benefits, breastfeeding helps fight off viruses and bacteria, lowers the risk of asthma and allergies, and minimizes the severity of ear infections and diarrhea in babies. According to stats compiled by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 81 percent of new moms start out breastfeeding. Still, the day-to-day realities of breastfeeding can be a real challenge for many who struggle to produce enough milk to nurture their babies. This is an issue that Riverside, California-based registered nurse and certified lactation counselor Krystal Duhaney has confronted head on.

After struggling to produce enough milk to breast feed her own child, Duhaney created a line of lactation cookies, brownies, cookie mix, lattes, lemonades, iced tea, oatmeal, and smoothie mixes to help new mothers produce milk.  Launched in 2015, Milky Mama has helped over 10,000 lactating mothers increase their supply including actress Lauren London.

In addition to offering this innovative line of products, Duhaney has also facilitated a breastfeeding support group via Facebook every Tuesday at noon.
