Monty Williams spoke at his wife’s funeral on Thursday, one week after she was tragically killed in a car accident in Oklahoma. It was the grace and strength he exhibited as he spoke eloquently on forgiveness, treasuring the simple moments he was fortunate to share with his wife, and their unbounded faith, which moved not only the nearly 900 guests in attendance, but many of us watching online. He ended his speech with a call to pray for not only him, but the other family involved in the car accident saying, “We cannot serve the Lord if we don’t have a heart of forgiveness. That family didn’t wake up wanting to hurt my wife. Life is hard. It is very hard, and that was tough, but we hold no ill will toward the Donaldson family.”

This Monty Williams speech really messed me up today. I don’t know if I could be that forgiving and that’s something I need to work on.

Instead of flowers, the family has asked that any gifts to Ingrid’s memory be sent to FaithWorks of the Inner City in Oklahoma. Sending so much love and positivity to all the families involved, and may Ingrid Williams rest in peace.
