NBA champion and Golden State superstar Stephen Curry joined the conspiracy theorist bandwagon after claiming in a recent interview the moon landing was faked.
Curry may go down as one of the best 3-point shooters of all time, but this commentary is another story.
During fellow NBA stars Vince Carter and Kent Bazemore's Winging It podcast, Curry said he wasn't sure anyone landed on the moon.
"We ever been to the moon?" Curry asked.
Teammates and the hosts answered "no" without a bit of hesitation.
Curry replied jokingly "they're gonna come get us" before dropping "I don't think so, either."
Chef Curry isn't the first basketball player seemingly belonging to the conspiracy coalition. Boston Celtics star Kyrie Irving was once a flat-earther.
NASA couldn't pass up an opportunity to comment and set the record straight.
"There’s lots of evidence NASA landed 12 American astronauts on the Moon from 1969 – 1972," spokesperson Allard Beutel told TMZ Sports.
"We’d love for Mr. Curry to tour the lunar lab at our Johnson Space Center in Houston, perhaps the next time the Warriors are in town to play the Rockets."
Over the years, conspiracy theorists claimed director Stanley Kubrick directed the first moon landing on a soundstage. The Washington Post reports it was one of the earliest theories to gain traction in the nation.
"We have hundreds of pounds of Moon rocks stored there and the Apollo mission control," Beutel said. "During his visit, he can see first-hand what we did 50 years ago, as well as what we’re doing now to go back to the Moon in the coming years, but this time to stay."
