Starz has added Naturi Naughton to the cast of the upcoming hour-long STARZ Original drama series Power, which, as we previously reported, stars Omari Hardwick, is executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and created by Courtney Kemp Agboh (The Good Wife), who will serve as executive producer and showrunner.
Via press release from Starz, Power tells the story of wealthy New York City nightclub owner, James “Ghost” St. Patrick (played by Hardwick), who caters to the city’s elite. He wants to build an empire, turn the club into a Fortune 500 business, but there’s just one problem: he is living a double life. When he is not in the club, he is the kingpin of the most lucrative drug network in New York for a very high-level clientele. His marriage, family and business all become unknowingly threatened as he is tempted to leave his criminal life behind and become the rags-to-riches businessman he wants to be most of all.
Naturi Naughton will play a character named Tasha St. Patrick, wife, confidant and willing accomplice to James (Hardwick).
Meanwhile, Lela Loren also joins the cast as Angela Valdes, an old flame of Omari Hardwick’s James “Ghost” St. Patrick who unexpectedly reenters his life.
And Joseph Sikora joins the cast as Tommy Egan, childhood best friend and business partner to “Ghost.”
Naturi Naughton has managed to stay busy in this competitive climate, especially for the limited amount of work available for black actresses. She most recently features in Lifetime’sThe Client List.
Power will begin production on an eight hour-long episode first season this fall and is expected to premiere on STARZ in 2014.
