While NBA YoungBoy, aka YoungBoy Never Broke Again, is busy taking the rap world by storm, he also has a more serious matter to handle in about two months.

The 22-year-old rapper is due in court on May 16 to face federal firearms charges, and he could be hit with up to 7 years behind bars if convicted. However, defense attorney Drew Findling says that he’s confident that the rapper won’t face time, mainly because a judge recently ruled to suppress crucial video evidence against NBA YoungBoy.

“We’re 100 percent convinced of his innocence, and now we have to continue to evaluate our strategy,” said defense attorney Drew Findling. “The unconstitutionality of law enforcement was clearly evident to the court and resulted in a slew of evidence of being thrown out. We’re looking forward to going to court.”

These legal issues stem from the “Slime Belief” rapper being arrested last year after evading the police, who had been investigating him for quite some time by then. Two firearms were ultimately found in the rapper’s possession, which is not allowed due to his status as a convicted felon.

After repeatedly getting denied bond, NBA YoungBoy was ultimately released from jail this past Oct. and placed on house arrest in Utah.

Since being placed on house arrest, the Baton Rouge rapper has consistently made headlines for his antics. As Blavity previously reported, NBA YoungBoy recently unveiled a savage diss track that took aim at Lil Durk, Gucci Mane, 21 Savage, and more. It’s also worth pointing out that YB recently made headlines for having an army of children, as his mom recently spoke on having 12 grandbabies.

YoungBoy is currently inactive on social media and hasn’t publicly spoken on the upcoming trial or the recent developments in the case.
