Ncuti Gatwa is saying goodbye to Sex Education.
The actor, who played Eric Effiong in the series, announced this news in an Instagram post shared on Feb. 8. It appears that the upcoming season will be his last appearance.
“Last day. Last time. Bye bubs, thank you for all the lessons and for all the strength,” Gatwa wrote in the caption under a photo of his trailer door. His Sex Education co-star Aimee Lou Wood wrote in the comments: “My heart hurts badly.”

Gatwa will appear as the 15th doctor in Disney+'s 'Doctor Who'.
Although Gatwa is leaving Sex Education, he is moving on to another fan-favorite series.
The actor will be taking over over the role as the Fifteenth Doctor in hit sci-fi series Doctor Who for its 60th anniversary season.
Neil Patrick Harris teed up Gatwa’s role as the show’s first gay doctor.
“I got to meet and interact with him a bit and he’s glorious. He’ll be the first gay Doctor, which is going to be super cool, a sexier Doctor,” he told Variety in July 2022.
The new season of 'Doctor Who' will premiere on Disney+.
After previously airing in the U.S. on BBC America, Doctor Who now has a new home on Disney+.
This comes following a partnership between BBC and Disney Branded Television. New episodes of Doctor Who will premiere on BBC across in the U.K. and Ireland and Disney+ for global audiences in late 2023.
