Star Trek: Beyond is coming. R.I.P. to the young, talented Anton Yelchin, who played Chekov in the franchise. His co-workers on this film poured out their love in his passing – so this one is dedicated to him.
I know a lot of Trekkies have been a bit skeptical from what we’ve seen so far, but this new teaser has a bit more space action than the last, putting the star back in Star Trek. Also, this galactic space battle just happens to be set to the tune of Rihanna’s new song “Sledgehammer,” which isn’t a bad way to go out.
I now have a renewed interest in what this movie could be in the pantheon of Star Trek visual works. It’s at least worth a trip to the movie theater. Plus, Idris Elba is in it.
Star Trek: Beyond is set to release on July 22, 2016.
