Nick Cannon may have his hands full with maternity shoots and gender reveals but the first day of school is also an exciting time in the media mogul’s life as a father. Cannon took to social media to express his delight as he announced the next chapter for his 5-year-old son Golden Sagon Cannon, who’s recently set off to the second grade.

“Yesterday was the first day of 2ND GRADE for MR. GOLDEN CANNON!! (And he’s only 5 years old!!!),” Cannon wrote on Instagram. “Congratulations Champ!!”

While posing for a photo in his uniform, the 5-year-old scholar was also holding a sign which reveals his proud achievements and his future plans.

“First Day Of 2nd Grade,” the sign reads, also adding the boy’s age, the date, and his teacher’s name.

To anyone who’s curious about the boy’s future plans, Golden wrote on his sign that he wants to be a scientist.

Golden, born Feb. 21, 2017, is Cannon’s third child, his first with Brittany Bell. And although he’s quite smart, the TV host says that he doesn’t want to take all the credit for his boy’s remarkable learning ability.

“He gets his genius from his Mamma,” the actor wrote, referring to Bell.

At just 5 years old, Golden Cannon will likely be the youngest student in his class, as second graders in the United States are typically 7 to 8 years old.

Bell boasted about her son in an Instagram post in April 2021, sharing that at just 4-years-old he skipped straight to first grade.

“This boy has such a gift for learning and has been a joy to pour into. He has skipped preschool, pre-k, and now kindergarten- straight to first grade,” she wrote.

As Blavity previously reported, Cannon and Bell, who share not only Golden but also 20-month-old daughter Powerful Queen Cannon, recently announced that they are expecting another child.

“Time Stopped and This Happened… @missbbell ❤️😍🥰🌞 #Sunshine #SonRISE,” Cannon wrote on social media in August, posting a video of himself posing with the expecting mother and their children.

Cannon, now getting ready to welcome his tenth child, talked about how much he loves fatherhood.

“Every day I just wake up excited as a father,” he told People. “I’m so excited about all my kids. Constantly, from every aspect of it. From them getting citizen of the month awards in the first grade to the birth of the new ones.”
