That's right, Nick Fury and the rest of S.H.I.E.L.D just my find a home at ABC as a serial, as it's been announced that Joss Whedon, who wrote and directed the big-screen version of The Avengers, is on board to write the pilot episode, along with his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen (Dollhouse); Josh would also direct.
Josh Whedon will also executive produce, with Jed, Tancharoen, Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb of Marvel Television.
No word yet on whether Samuel L. Jackson, who plays S.H.I.E.L.D. leader Nick Fury, will be involved with the series in any way, or what S.H.I.E.L.D. agents will be included in the cast of characters.
Although I'd expect that Whedon will work on turf that's most familiar to mainstream Avengers audiences. He did say that the TV pilot wouldn't have any connection to the upcoming Avengers sequel.
