The moment that Barbz and Hot Girls have been waiting for has officially happened: Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj joined forces on Instagram Live to show love to one another and talk about what it takes to make it in hip-hop.
When the two female lyricists hopped on Live, it resembled a long overdue sisterly reunion. The “MEGATRON” rapper congratulated Megan on her recent success, including finishing her college degree and landing on the cover of XXL as a coveted member of the 2019 Freshmen Class. Minaj went on to offer the Houston rapper some sound advice about working on her debut album and not to be so hard on herself.

“I will say don’t overthink it and don’t beat yourself up,” Minaj advised. “We’re schoolgirls in our brain, and we write, so we automatically treat it [making music] like work. So, when I treat it like fun and playtime [producing freestyles], I get better results.”
Megan has recently been dropping hints throughout her social media posts that her debut album is in the works.
Fans of both artists were hyped to learn that Minaj and Megan may link up soon in Los Angeles.

In an industry where pitting two female artists against each other comes all too easy, seeing Nicki and Megan embrace each other’s accolades on Instagram Live is the content we love to see. Despite Nicki’s past tense relationships with other female lyricists, her willingness to share advice with the “Sex Talk” rapper is refreshing.
The possible collaboration between two of the most talented rappers in hip-hop not only speaks to the importance of support and encouragement amongst Black women in the industry, but it will also raise the bar for lyricism and creativity throughout the entire genre. Following Jermaine Dupri’s baseless opinion about present-day female rappers, a Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj collabo could definitely put outdated misogynists in their place.
