Move over Kanye West: Nicki Minaj's tweets now have everyone talking. And also wondering, "Girl, are you okay?"
Minaj's dissatisfaction with her new album Queen's No. 2 Billboard ranking (rapper Travis Scott scored the top spot) had her going off in a series of tweets. She also expressed frustration with how Spotify handled her album's rollout. Minaj even threw Scott's baby daughter Stormi into the bucket of blame.
Spotify put drake’s face on every playlist but told me they’d have to teach me a lesson for playing my music 10 mins early on #QueenRadio. Even tho they’ve been giving away my music for free for years & I am one of the top Spotify artists of all time.— QUEEN (@NICKIMINAJ) August 19, 2018
Spotify had to teach me a lesson but rewarded the man who has had an Apple radio show the longest; inadvertently helping the Apple platform the most. Oh I can’t wait for #QueenRadio on Tuesday. They took away my promotion they had promised for the 1st cpl days b/c of this. #Queen— QUEEN (@NICKIMINAJ) August 19, 2018
Travis sold over 50K of these. With no requirement of redeeming the album! With no dates for a tour, etc. I spoke to him. He knows he doesn’t have the #1 album this week. I love my fans for the #1 album in AMERICA! I’ll explain on #QueenRadio 4 albums in, #1 in 86 countries ♥️ pic.twitter.com/CiYEuczgm3— QUEEN (@NICKIMINAJ) August 19, 2018
Along with her fury, Minaj then decided to compare herself to the late great Harriet Tubman, linking herself to iconic revolutionary.
All the QUEENS I remember, SHOOK SHIT UP!!!!!!!! Queen of the week may go to HARRIET TUBMAN!!!!!! Had she just sat there & ate her rice, you niggaz history would’ve been a lot less triumphant. 🦄— QUEEN (@NICKIMINAJ) August 20, 2018
"Queen of the week may go to HARRIET TUBMAN!!!!!!" tweeted Minaj who applauded the historic legend as well as those who "shook s**t" up." The rapper included herself in that category and added, "Had [Tubman] just sat there & ate her rice, you n****z history would’ve been a lot less triumphant."
Sat there and ate her what, sis?!
Harriet Tubman quickly started trending on Twitter, and not because of that $20 bill everyone is waiting for.
nicki said "Ayo, I been north" on chun-li so real fans get that harriet tubman reference.— Desus Nice (@desusnice) August 20, 2018
Lmao I thought Harriet Tubman was trending because we finally getting her on the 20$ bill but it’s because Nicki Minaj compared herself to Harriet Tubman. pic.twitter.com/Pz3z8TyAus— Finessa Queen👑 (@KyraPete) August 20, 2018

Y’all I had no idea Harriet Tubman was now trending. I said what I said. 😂😂😂😂😂 #QueenRadio will honor her tmrw. She said she could’ve rescued more slaves had they known they were slaves. I fought for streaming services to count toward billboard when alotta niggz stayed quiet— QUEEN (@NICKIMINAJ) August 20, 2018
Naturally, folks started wondering what was wrong with Nicki Minaj because of the sheer ridiculousness of those tweets, especially after she doubled-down.
So Nicki Minaj blamed a baby, Travis, Apple, Kylie, Safaree, Spotify, me, you and your auntie for not debuting at #1 and NOW she's comparing herself to Harriet Tubman????? pic.twitter.com/DFn3gWhmEI— Androgynous Fog. (@VigorousMental) August 20, 2018

“I am the new Harriet Tubman,” Minaj said. When asked if she thought it was too far given Tubman’s slavery connections, Minaj repeated, “No, no, I am Harriet Tubman. Leave me alone.”
