A Raleigh, North Carolina teenager Eziya Bowden experienced a scary ride with Lyft alleging she jumped from the back seat of a moving car because of the driver’s “suspicious behavior.”

The 17-year-old’s injuries landed her in the ER after jumping from a moving Lyft a few miles from her house. Bowden followed her intuition to flee the vehicle after the driver questioned her on personal matters.

“How many boys flirted with you?” He said that right away,” Bowden explained to WBTV. “‘Oh, you just look good. I would date you if you weren’t so young,” Bowden said the driver said to her.

Bowden says his topic of conversation wasn’t the only unsettling clue — Bowden says the driver sprayed something in the air, which made her feel dizzy and warm, prompting her to assume she was feeling drugged.

“When I got in his car, it did smell like cigarettes, so when he sprayed one time, it was already like, ‘Oh, it no longer smelled like that.’ But for you to keep spraying it, then roll your windows up, like, I know it’s not about me being nervous or anything,” Bowden said.

Her spidey senses ultimately led her to jump out of the moving car and avoid any tragic circumstances.

“I was very scared, but then again, I was more so like I’d rather get out of this car than fall asleep in a car with this man I don’t really know,” Bowden said.

Bowden explained she blacked out after opening the car door, only to remember how she was scared and crying once she hit the ground.

“I just looked down at the ground, I looked behind me, and I just jumped out. He didn’t stop when he noticed the door was open or he heard me crying or anything,” she said.

Bowden explained the driver did eventually turn around to check on her while pretending to be a bystander and called the police.

A Lyft spokesperson said the driver’s mannerisms were suspicious while a statement from the driving company states the driver will not be able to work for them any longer.

“We’ve been in touch with the rider’s family to offer our support [and] have removed the driver’s access to the Lyft platform,” the Lyft spokesperson said.

“Safety is fundamental to Lyft, and the behavior described is deeply concerning,” Lyft said in a statement to PEOPLE. “We’ve been in touch with the rider’s family to offer our support, have removed the driver’s access to the Lyft platform, and stand ready to assist law enforcement with any investigation.”

Lyft also refunded Bowden for her scheduled ride but, she says the refund doesn’t stop her fear of using the app.

“I don’t think that’s stopping him from anything else. It doesn’t really bring peace to me at all. As us young girls, or even women, we have to be very aware and safe of our surroundings. Cancel your ride and wait. Wait for somebody cause honestly, I would’ve waited for my friend,” Bowden said.

According to Police, no charges have been filed.
