Crime is a hell of a drug and Doris Payne has been indulging for over half a century. The exploits of the admitted jewel thief, who has allegedly lifted over $2 million worth of high-end jewels, are so notorious that they garnered an original Netflix documentary, The Life and Crimes of Doris Payne. Well, it seems that old habits die hard as the 86-year-old grandma was arrested in an Atlanta suburb on Monday for stealing $86.22 worth of merchandise from a local Walmart.

Payne is not new to this, she's true to this! In 2015, the O.G. scammer known as the ‘Granny Gem Thief’ was accused of stealing $690 Christian Dior earrings at a Saks Fifth Avenue store. Her criminal record includes more than 20 arrests for robberies from Paris to the U.S.

                                                                           

These days, an ankle monitor is the only piece of jewelry she's wearing. Prior to Monday's charge of four counts of stolen pharmaceutical and electronic goods, Payne was already on probation from another theft charge from nearby DeKalb County, where last December she was convicted of stealing a diamond necklace from a department store. Payne who's quick sleight-of-hand theft technique once earned her a fortune, should probably retire at this point in the game. But, Will she? That's a whole other story.
