Located on 125 East 11th Street, iconic New York City nightclub and concert venue, Webster Hall will be closing its doors in August for an undetermined amount of time to undergo renovations. On Sunday, Gerard McNamee, the venues current owner took to Facebook to announce that "the legendary and world-famous Webster Hall has been sold and will close as we know it for its final club night on Saturday, August 5th, 2017."

A liquor license application filled with the city of New York confirms McNamee's announcement, showing that the club will be purchased in a joint venture between Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment and AEG Presents. According to DNA info, the new owners will be renovating the building to accommodate more concerts and fewer dance nights. The clubs legendary Marlin Room stands to be converted into an extra bar and waiting area.

Webster Hall, a New York Staple since 1886, is known for showcasing new, and top talent of all genres. The corporate acquisition is not without protest. In June, Community Board 3 voted a recommendation to deny the license unless the applicant agrees to a host of stipulations and Filmmaker Ian Hamilton is looking to raise $15,000 via Kickstarter to fund a documentary chronicling Webster Hall's final month before going corporate.

Pour out some libations for the big homie, Webster.
