Omar Benson Miller has signed up to co-star opposite Dwayne Johnson in HBO’s previously-announced half-hour dramedy pilot which centers on the lives of retired athletes living in Miami. Johnson is a former athlete himself (he played college football, and, of course, was a WWF star, which helped launch his movie career).

The currently-untitled series will be executive produced by his Pain & Gain co-star Mark Wahlberg, with Stephen Levinson (Entourage) penning the script and executive producing as well.

Peter Berg will direct the pilot, which HBO is aiming to shoot in the fall.

Miller will play a character named Charles, who’s described as a likable former pro athlete who is searching for his next career.

Miller, maybe best known for his multiple seasons on CBS’ CSI: Miamiwill next be seen in the action/thriller Homefront, with Jason Statham, and Tommy Oliver’s drama 1982.
