Blavity REPORT — Oprah showed up at the Apollo Theater in Harlem on Tuesday to host interviews as part of her ongoing Super Soul Conversations on OWN.

Blavity was there to report as the mogul spoke with stars like Jordan Peele, Trevor Noah, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Salma Hayek, Stephen Colbert and Yara Shahidi, who blew us all away when she graced the stage and talked with Oprah about activism, culture and empowerment.

"I think so many of the problems that arise today are by these arbitrary borders that we put up, these arbitrary distinctions we make between people," Shahidi said onstage. "And so many of our issues, whether it is economic, whether it is discrimination that has been integrated into systems, centers from somebody deciding that a difference is worth making a political statement."

Shahidi, who turns 18 on Sunday, is a huge advocate for social justice and told Oprah she plans to launch an initiative called "18 by 18" to help increase turnout among younger voters and turn activism into "quantifiable action."

"I don't think I ever knew the words 'quantifiable action…' when I was 17," Oprah jokingly responded.

Even Oprah couldn't keep her cool as Shahidi eloquently spoke about the world's issues and how we should work together to better solve them. The young star also touched on her personal journey, what it's like being biracial and how she plans to balance attending school at Harvard while maintaining the success of her hit show, "Grown-ish."

"Everybody from the writers to the production understands how much I value my education and we’re doing our best to figure out how we want to make it work," she said. "But I feel pretty lucky to be able to make a commitment to a school… and to a show. I'm doing my best to figure it all out."

Shahidi left the audience, and Oprah, in awe — but before leaving the stage, Oprah shared a message with her that she said she once received from Quincy Jones after she filmed "The Color Purple."

Oprah, who held Shahidi's hand in hers, told her: "Baby, your future is so bright, it burns my eyes!"

Oprah at the Apollo will air on Feb. 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on OWN. It will also be available via podcast at Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations.
