Oprah Winfrey recently sat down with David Rubenstein, co-founder and co-chief executive officer of The Carlyle Group, on his Bloomberg Television show, Peer-to-Peer Conversations.

On a clip from the episode, Rubenstein pondered that given the popularity Oprah has, if she ever thought she could run for president AND actually be elected.

The audience clapped wildly while Winfrey sat composed and in thought.

Then she gave a surprisingly inclined, but subtle, answer:

“I never considered the question even a possibility. I just thought, oh!”

Rubenstein followed by saying, “Right, because it’s clear that you don’t need government experience to be elected President of the United States.”

“That’s what I thought!” Winfrey exclaimed. “I thought, oh gee, I don’t have the experience. I don’t know enough. And now I’m thinking, Oh!”
