Some genre spice (it's what you've been asking for isn't it)…
Screening at the Pan African Film Festival, which starts tonight, with Vipaka, the opening night film, check out this *African Western* titled African Cowboy, written and directed by Rodney Charles.
It's actually a film that I highlighted about 2 years ago, but haven't hear anything of it since then; so learning about this screening was a nice surprise.
Its synopsis reads:
A Namibian cowboy is beaten and left for dead in the vast desert, after standing up to a trans-national posse of brutal land-grabbers. However, things change when he's rescued by a mysterious gun-slinger with reasons of his own to get even with the posse.
Sounds intriguing enough, right?
If only the trailer were a bit more convincing… but it tickled my interest enough that I'd like to check it out. The landscape definitely adds to its visual appeal.
It's a short film by the way, and it'll screen at the following times at the PAFF: Sun, Feb 10 @ 2:30p; Tue, Feb 12 @ 1:10p; Sat, Feb 16 @ 5:00p
