A Philadelphia man has been accused of stabbing a Delaware teenager more than 50 times, then burning her body after they met on Facebook.
According to CBS News, on Thursday, Nov. 30, police charged 23-year-old Cole Swaringer-Herring with murder, arson, abuse of a corpse in the death of Sabriya McLean and other related offenses. Law enforcement officials say McLean's body was found on Tuesday, Nov. 28, behind a building in west Philadelphia.
Swaringer-Herring initially told his parents about the murder, and they called the police, reports CBS Philly. NBC Philadelphia reports that McLean traveled to Philadelphia to visit Swaringer-Herring, and the teenager's family reported her missing on Monday, Nov. 27.
Homicide Capt. Jack Ryan said Swaringer-Herring tried to cover up the murder by burning McLean's body and burying it under a pile of leaves. As of Thursday, Swaringer-Herring remains jailed without bail. Motive for the murder has yet to be determined, and an investigation into McLean's murder is ongoing.
