Young Lady Agatha Danbury is finally unveiled in a new first-look image from Netflix and Shonda Rhimes’ upcoming Bridgerton spinoff, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
Arsema Thomas plays Lady Danbury, who is, at this point in her life, married to a much older man. Described as being on her husband’s thumb, Lady Danbury ‘uses Charlotte’s arrival to find her own way into society,” according to Netflix. The outlet continues:
“With keen knowledge of the once divded social scene and the intricacies of marriage, Agatha becomes a guiding light for the new Queen, all while finding her own voice and power we’ll soon recognize as Bridgerton’s iconic Lady Danbury.”
The role marks Thomas’ television debut.
The series stars India Amarteifio as the young Queen Charlotte, with Corey Mylchreest playign a young King George. The cast also includes Sam Clemmett, Freddie Dennis, Richard Cunningham, Tunji Kasim, Rob Maloney, Cyril Nri and Hugh Sachs, with Golda Roshuevel, Adjoa Andoh and Ruth Gemmell reprising their roles as the older Queen Charlotte, older Lady Danbury and Lady Violet Bridgerton.
The prequel series focuses on Queen Charlotte’s earlier years as she cements her power and influence in Britain. According to the logline:
Centered on Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.
Rhimes serves as showrunner, executive producer and writer, with Tom Verica serving as director and executive producer. Betsy Beers also executive produces.
