Did you know the busiest man in hip-hop has a podcast?

That's right. Questlove is sharing his talent beyond The Roots, talking with music legends on his podcast, Pandora's Questlove Supreme.  It's a musichead's dream. Every week, Quest takes listeners down memory lane with all sorts of guests.

This week, he chatted with the illustrious DJ Prince Paul about his humble (yet eccentric) beginnings, his professional relationship with Biz Markie and how his son is following his musical footsteps. Phonte of Foreign Exchange joined in on the convo.

Paul told Quest that when he was working Stetasonic shows, he felt like had to "dress like a crackhead" when he collected his show money from Daddy O, who lived in New Lots Plaza, a low-income housing development in New York City.

“I used to wear a leather cap like Eddie Murphy in that ‘How Could It Be’ video and I’d come out with $500, which was a lot back then [laughs],” Paul said.

Going along with the eccentric theme, the trio touched on the background behind the brilliant usage of a Liberace sample on De La Soul's 1999 joint, "More Than U Know," which was produced by Paul.

“We were sequencing the record up at a place called ‘Island Media’ in Long Island and that’s how came up with the idea of putting the skits in between the songs. I was like, ‘Man, I’ve got to figure out a way to link all these ideas and songs together.’ I think we made the skits and then they had a Liberace cassette and I was like, ‘Can I see it? Can I play that?,' he laughed. "I heard his [Liberace’s] voice, and [I was like], ‘Let’s put that in the beginning.’ It wasn’t really an elaborate [train] of thought, but those tracks were simply MacGuyver’d.”

Genius move, because now you can't even imagine the song without it.

The connections Paul has accumulated are fascinating as well, including hip-hop legend Biz Markie. The two kicked it at Paul's house and made tapes together, including “Rocket in the Pocket,” and “God Made Me Funky.”

One of the most intriguing parts of the interview was when Paul let us in on the secret to staying relevant in a generation almost 30 years younger than him. It's his son, who DJs for Lil' Uzi Vert!

“Oh, no wonder you know so much,” Questlove said.

“Yeah, but you won’t catch me dabbin’ any time soon [laughs],” Paul joked.
