A few weeks ago, Quincy Jones basically broke the entire internet when interviews with GQ and New York Magazine dropped. He spilled a giant carafe's worth of tea, spilling the beans of several famous figures from Michael Jackson to Richard Pryor, and has now apologized on Twitter for doing so.

In his official statement, Jones offered his apologies "to anyone whom [his] words offended" as well as to his friends "who are still here" and "to those who aren't."

Many readers were entertained by a candid look at stars past and present, and chalked up the whole thing to Jones' mature age, as we all know filters become less and less important to us as as we age.

However, the music mogul's six daughters felt that their father had gone a little too far.

"My six daughters (who I am beyond proud of) took me aside to do a surprise 'family intervention' because of some silly things I've said in two recent interviews and … I have learned my lesson," Jones wrote.

He explained why he felt it was alright to spill so much tea like this: "When you've been fortunate enough to have lived such a long and crazy life (and you've recently stopped drinking — three years ago!), certain details about specific events (which do NOT paint the full picture of my intentions nor experiences) come flooding back all at once, & even at 85, it's apparent that 'wordvomit' and bad-mouthing is inexcusable."

Jones went on to lament that in dishing on his celebrity friends, he inadvertently "contradicted the very real messages [he] tried to relay about racism, inequality, homophobia, poverty," and he noted that he has already privately reached out to his friends who were hurt or outed by his words.

Having expressed his regret in full, Jones signed off on the apology note with his signature sense of humor, writing that he remains "an 85 year old bow-legged man who is still learning from his mistakes."
