Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), aka everyone's favorite auntie, won't back down and refuses to turn a blind eye to President Donald Trump's antics. According to Buzzfeed News, Waters will address the nation after Trump's State of the Union speech. Trump's congressional address will air on Tuesday, Jan. 30; it's unclear if Waters' address at the beginning of the BET news special "Angela Rye's State of the Union" will air on Tuesday or Wednesday night.
Rye, a Democratic strategist and political commentator, will executive produce a series of news specials for the network that will focus on issues facing black America. A spokesperson for BET said that activists and some elected officials will analyze and discuss the first year of Trump's presidency on the "Angela Rye's State of the Union" special. The panel will also talk about "building black politics and the value of engagement across today’s socio-political landscape."
Waters, who is the ranking member of the Financial Services Committee, has become even more of a force in the political arena as she continues to speak her mind on Trump's possible collusion with Russia, his lack of political experience and his racist rhetoric. She is one of a few politicians who has called for Trump's impeachment, saying repeatedly that she thinks special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation will result in evidence of Trump's collusion with the country during the 2016 election.
Because she has been one of the louder and more consistent voices of the anti-Trump movement from the beginning, you better believe we'll be tuning in to hear what she has to say. We're 100 percent sure it will be hashtag-worthy!
