Monique Samuels can’t be more excited for fans to see the “real her” in the new Love & Marriage: Huntsville spinoff focused on power couples in D.C. Samuels famously exited RHOP following a season that chronicled her fallout with Candiace Dillard Bassett, which culminated in a physical fight. While she’d love to put the fight behind her, it’s always a subject of conversation. She recently opened up about how it impacted her physically as well.

She says she had an injury that wasn’t discussed on the show

Samuels has a new radio hosting gig at WPGC 95.5 on The Good Morning Show. Samuels reflected on the physical altercation with Dillard Bassett and claimed she reacted the way she did because she was hit first with a glass. Video footage of the fight shows Samuels through the first punch and Dillard Bassett retaliated while getting hit in the head by Samuels.

“I got hit in the face with a freaking glass. Like how else would you react?” she asked during the show, as reported by Urban Belle Mag. “Yeah, literally bust my lip. So then I’m holding her down. And they’re like, ‘Let her go.’ I’m like, ‘No.’ She has a piece of broken glass in her hand. I’m not letting her go. But nobody gonna talk about that.”

During the Season 5 reunion special, Samuels also said that she had a fractured tooth

She alleged that she had proof in her infamous binder full of receipts, but host Andy Cohen didn’t want to see the medical bills Samuels brought along with her.

The former ‘RHOP’ star will be on the new ‘Love & Marriage: Huntsville’ spinoff

Samuels quit RHOP after four seasons. She cited biased questioning at the Season 5 reunion from Cohen regarding their fight as one of the reasons.

The show is set to premiere on May 14 on OWN.

Samuels and her husband Chris will be on the show along with other couples. Per a description: “radio personality and self-proclaimed “Party Kingpin” DJ QuickSilva is the hardest working DJ in the D.M.V. area, and his wife Ashley is stepping into her own spotlight as a fashion designer, podcast host, and author. Erana and Jamie Tyler are enjoying their notoriety as D.C.‘s hottest socialite couple, but after 26 years of marriage, they are seeking the secret sauce to keep their lasting union sizzling while juggling the ever-changing needs of their children”
