Riverdale is coming to a close.
The long-running The CW series will wrap after its upcoming seventh season at the network.
The news was announced as The CW unveiled its fall schedule Thursday morning.
It joins a long-growing list of shows ending at the network, though an aged show like Riverdale ending now is not surprising and it does get a chance to wrap its story up. The show’s success was propelled by a lucrative streaming deal with Netflix that several of The CW’s shows have, however, it ended a couple of years ago ad does not exist anymore for the network’s newer entries.
The series stars KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Mächen Amick as Alice Cooper, Casey Cott as Kevin Keller, Charles Melton as Reggie Mantle, Vanessa Morgan as Toni Topaz Erinn Westbrook as Tabitha Tate and Drew Ray Tanner as Fangs Fogarty.
The sixth season of the show began with a special five-episode event arc entitled, with Archie and Betty deciding to give their romantic relationship another shot, just as a bomb planted by Hiram Lodge under Archie’s bed was about to go off. Strangely, that bomb seemingly doesn’t explode, and when Archie and Betty wake up the next morning, they’re living in the town of Rivervale, their lives in Riverdale but a distant dream.
Based on the characters from Archie Comics, the series is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, with executive producers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Jon Goldwater.
