Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts recently shared photos from her “intimate” wedding ceremony with Amber Laign, her girlfriend of 18 years.
According to CNN, the newlyweds met in 2005 and have overcome different trials and tribulations, especially health illnesses. In 2007, Roberts revealed to her fans that she was battling breast cancer. Several years later in 2012, she faced another health scare that led her to have a bone marrow transplant surgery due to myelodysplastic syndrome, a group of cancers in which immature blood cells in the bone marrow do not mature or become healthy blood cells. Laign also battled breast in 2022 after she was diagnosed with the disease as well. She chose to take on treatment and completed half of it in June of 2022.
After conquering all they’ve endured and having time themselves, the lovebirds decided this year was finally the right time to take the next step in their relationship. As Blavity previously reported, the former ESPN sportscaster revealed she had plans to seal the deal in January.
“It was something we had talked about, but we had put it off. She became ill,” the 62-year-old said, reported CNN.
The idea became a dream come true for the couple over the weekend when the Alabama native and her married in front of their closest friends and family.
On Sunday, Roberts shared the good news by posting two photos of her in an Instagram slide show of her and Laign holding hands in long white custom Badgley Mischka wedding dresses as they smiled happily in love. She disclosed the duo “are immensely grateful to all for making it a day and a night to remember” in the caption.

The private occasion took place in the couple’s backyard and was followed by a joyous reception where all the attendees were moving and grooving. In continuation of celebrating this momentous occasion, she shared two more videos on her page of her siblings and guests having a ball.
