Marvel and Netflix have announced that Rosario Dawson will reprise her role as Claire Temple in the second season of the Netflix Original Series, “Marvel’s Daredevil,” coming in 2016, as part of a larger exclusive TV deal that will also allow her to appear in any of Marvel’s other Netflix original series.
Claire Temple is a Marvel character with ties to many of The Defenders heroes in the comic books.
The Defenders is the name of a number of Marvel Comics superhero groups. Its original incarnation was led by Doctor Strange and included the Hulk, Namor, and, eventually, the Silver Surfer – according to the Marvel Wiki. The group had a rotating line-up throughout the years, since its creation, and has included other superheroes like Valkyrie, Nighthawk, Hellcat, the Gargoyle, Beast, and Luke Cage, to name a few. Disney and Marvel are planning a Defenders miniseries that will air on Netflix, along with four other previously-announced shows featuring Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage (and Daredevil, which is now available). So, with this new deal, Dawson’s Claire Temple could very well appear in any of the other series.
Romantically entangled with Matt Murdock in the series’ first season of "Daredevil," Claire helped the hero heal after his brutal battles in the streets of Hell’s Kitchen.
"Marvel’s Daredevil" is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.
"Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones" comes only to Netflix later this year and "Marvel’s Luke Cage" premieres on the streaming service in 2016. Future series exclusively debuting on Netflix include “Marvel’s Iron Fist” and “Marvel’s Defenders,” a mini-series event uniting key characters from the previous series.
