One of several new dramas we'll be paying attention to that are debuting this season on the UK's Channel 4 include a new political thriller series that was previously titled Coup, but is now called Secret State, and co-stars award-winning Ethiopian-Irish actress Ruth Negga.

A roster of Britain's best-known acting talent (including Douglas Hodge, Gina McKee, Charles Dance, Rupert Graves, and Sylvestra Le Touzel) joins Gabriel Byrne in Channel 4's new series.

Gabriel Byrne plays the pivotal role of politician Tom Dawkins, the reluctant hero at the heart of this contemporary conspiracy thriller, who finds himself thrust into the spotlight of front-line politics when he least expects to be, and who risks everything by taking on the might of the establishment.

Negga plays she a meddlesome MI6 agent named Agnes, a character said to be loosely based on real life spy-turned-whistleblower Katharine Gunn.

Secret State starts airing on Channel 4 this Wednesday, November 7.

I couldn't find any footage online; although our UK readers have probably seen some TV spots, trailers and such.
