Update (August 29, 2019): Sasha Obama is officially enrolled at the University of Michigan.

Students told The Detroit News that they spotted the former first daughter while they were attending freshman orientation.

"I was walking by pushing a vacuum and she walked out right in front of me," third-year student Zach Lassen recalled. "I said, 'Excuse me.' It was a crowded hallway with her and some Secret Service dudes."

Another student told The News Obama seemed like "a normal student to me."

The 18-year-old will start classes on Tuesday.

Reps for the university and former First Lady Michelle Obama would not comment on Sasha’s enrollment, according to Page Six. An Instagram post from a private account attributed to Sasha celebrated her college acceptance in December 2018.

“So proud to say I’m going to college with my sisters!!” she captioned a photo of herself and two friends.

Sasha’s school choice is a departure from her those of her sister and parents, who all went to Ivy League colleges. Former President Barack Obama and Michelle went to Columbia and Princeton Universities for their undergraduate degrees, respectively. Both of them went to Harvard Law School. Sasha’s older sister Malia followed her parents’ footsteps and enrolled at Harvard in 2017 following a gap year.

Sasha graduated from Sidwell Friends School in June.
