Deion Sanders' daughter, Shelomi Sanders, recently announced that she will begin attending Jackson State University (JSU) this upcoming school year. Notably, Deion, aka "Coach Prime", is the university's head football coach, and two of his other children also attend the institution: Shilo and Shedeur.
Shelomi shared the news via Instagram earlier this week, and the basketball star shared a photo of herself repping the HBCU's uniform, simply captioned "COMMITTED."
Shelomi's mother, Pilar Sanders, commented beneath her post and gushed over the fact that all three of her children will be together at Jackson State. Deion also congratulated Shelomi, with the 54-year-old even making his own post.
"When I tell u GOD is Good GOD is Good! My young daughter @shelomisanders has committed to play basketball for the Back 2 Back SWAC Champions, [the JSU Lady Tigers]," Deion wrote.
"God is so good. 3 kids on campus! @shilosanders @shedeursanders & now @shelomisanders THIS IS WHAT I CALL CHILD SUPPORT," he humorously added.
Coach Prime was announced as Jackson State's head football coach back in 2020 and he has been a staunch advocate for HBCU sports representation since then. As Blavity previously reported, Deion recently led JSU to its first Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) championship in 2007. This notably came about a week after Deion and Shedeur were named SWAC Coach and Freshman of the Year.
Shedeur Sanders has also recently made headlines for becoming the first HBCU player to receive the Jerry Rice Award and his history-making NIL (name, image and likeness) deal with Gatorade.
As for Shilo, he transferred to JSU from the University of South Carolina around the same time Shedeur committed to the HBCU. He is currently a defensive back on the football team.
Now, Shelomi will get the chance to make her mark at the university. Let's congratulate this 18-year-old basketball star on this accomplishment!
