Professional bodybuilder Sheryl Grant shatters stereotypes by proving that age is just a number when you follow your dreams.

According to Atlanta Black Star, the 61-year-old was crowned the 2017 Ms. Olympia champion and will participate in this year’s competition. Grant has been transparent about her journey with her followers on social media. She also talked about her faith, hoping to inspire others to become better versions of themselves.

“61 & On The Road to Ms. Olympia has tested my faith,” Grant wrote in an Instagram caption. “I’m claiming joy even when I can’t see it this act of belief is a testimony of how we can give ourselves the gift to exercise our FAITH by uprooting old beliefs systems that no longer serve us and give ourselves permission to shed who we use to be and boldly step into who we are destined to be.”

Grant has developed a large following on her social media platforms after launching her FIT for Life community, aiming to help others transform their bodies and minds, per Atlanta Black Star.

In July, Grant interviewed with News Nation and shared how she works out five times a week as she mentally prepared to compete for Ms. Olympia for the second time.

Grant was 55 when she last competed, and the show’s hosts were amazed at how she remained the same. When asked about her secret, the 61-year-old shared the importance of mental structure and how it helps in all areas of life.

“I think DNA has a little bit to do with it,” Grant said in a video posted to her TikTok account. “But it’s also about your framework … it’s about your mental framework.”

In a separate video, Grant discussed having a “strong core” and provided exercises for those interested in core training.

“My secret to more effective workouts is a STRONG CORE! A strong core allows me to do more exercises and maintain the form to maximize each movements effectiveness,” she wrote in the post’s caption.
