“After two incredible seasons of Single Ladies, I have decided to entrust the show to the safe hands of VH1… Having fostered it from its inception, I’ve found great satisfaction in seeing these characters come to life on the screen, and am proud of what the show has become. But after two all-consuming seasons immersed in its production in the great city of Atlanta, I’ve decided it’s time to shift my focus to my life in Los Angeles and the creation of new projects.” 

Words from a statement from Single Ladies creator/executive producer/showrunner Stacy A. Littlejohn – a VH1 series (exec-produced by Queen Latifah) that recently wrapped up its second season, and was renewed for a third season.

The series averaged 3.2 million total viewers during season 2, up 10% from season 1, which means even more people watched it than last season. 

And the network called it basic cable’s #1 ad-supported regularly scheduled scripted show among women 18-49 over the course of the summer.

"Our viewers’ love affair with ‘Single Ladies’ got even bigger this year, growing significantly from its successful first season and dominating its timeslot on basic cable," said Jeff Olde, Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Production, VH1. "We’re extremely happy that we’ll be able to give the audience another great season of the series and its honest, current take on love, dating and female friendship."

Season 2 starred LisaRaye McCoy (Keisha), Denise Vasi (Raquel) and Charity Shea (April) as three best friends navigating the dating world in Atlanta. This season saw the exit of Stacey Dash, and the addition of Cassandra Freeman , and the aforementioned Denise Vasi as newbies to the show's cast.

Season 3 is set to premiere in mid-2013.

As one of very few black woman showrunners, Stacy A. Littlejohn's 15+ year-long resume includes work as producer and/or writer on a number of TV shows like: The Wanda Sykes Show, All of Us, Barbershop, Cedric the Entertainer Presents, Life with Bonnie, and The Hughleys. 

What's next for her, as she shifts focus to her LA life, and the creation of new projects? The Deadline report doesn't say, but she's on my watch-list, so once anything comes up, you know we'll have whatever it is for you.
