Sen. Cory Booker wants to amplify the voices of Americans far and wide through his newest podcast, “Lift Every Voice.”

Booker, who frequently speaks out about issues of affecting America’s marginalized communities, said he wants his podcast to help elevate the voices and concerns of the vulnerable as well as those fighting on the frontlines to help create change. It officially released on Monday in commemoration of MLK Day.

“I know from living in Newark and traveling to communities across New Jersey and the country that many of the greatest, most powerful voices in our political process come from those on the ground who are painstakingly fighting each and every day to improve their neighborhoods," Booker said in a statement to Blavity. "I hope this podcast will elevate their voices and shine light on important issues of righteousness and compassion that will inspire others to action.”

In each episode, he will be talking with different activists, organizers and changemakers who are actively working towards progress. Fittingly, Rep. John Lewis joined him on the episode as his first guest. The two talked out Lewis’ time fighting for civil rights along Dr. King and what his legacy means today.

“Dr. King would have turned 89 years old today,” Booker says in his inaugural episode. “I’m excited to always recognize his birthday and try to make sure it’s not just a time of recognition but a time that we are fulfilling his mission and his mandate which is still real today. The best way to show gratitude is not with words, but with actions.

"Lift Every Voice" can officially be found on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
