The hit Scandinavian dramatic series The Bridge has been remade, yet again.  But unlike the U.S. version, which is set on the U.S.-Mexico border, this U.K. version is set on the Britain-France border inside the Euro Tunnel.

The Bridge centered on the discovery of a murdered corpse on a bridge that connects Sweden and Denmark; the kicker is that half of the body lay in one country, and the other half in the other.

In this British remake, Stephen Dillane and Clemence Poesy star as Karl and Elise, the two detectives, from Britain and France respectively, who are charged with investigating the crime together.

Dominik Moll is directing.

I have yet to view a single episode of either version of The Bridge, so there would be nothing with which I could compare this incarnation.

I will say, however, that I was very disappointed with the U.S. remake of another excellent Nordic Noir series, The Killing.  I just hope The Tunnel puts forth a better effort than that AMC series was able to.  The Scandinavians have a great thing going here– let’s not mess it up, OK?

The ten-episode season of The Tunnel premieres on Sky Atlantic HD on October 16 @ 9PM.
