Dozens of students and local millennials attended the Blavity x Sprite #GetVocal Happy Hour at Boxcar Bar and Arcade on Friday, October 12 in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina.

The event was empowered by Sprite through their #GetVocal campaign, which was created to provide a freestyle platform for young Americans to share their point of view, an empowering message or a story about social issues in their community through a rap, song or spoken word. Top hip hop artists such as Rapsody, LGP Qua and Tierra Whack have already put their own spin on the Izze The Producer created beat to give fans a glimpse of what is on their minds, today.

In partnership with Sprite, Blavity provided students from Bennett College and North Carolina A&T State University the opportunity to share their thoughts on some of the biggest issues that matter to them and their community. "There are so many issues that I'm vocal about that my friends and I should really speak to more” said attendee Deon Walker.

“It's super dope that Sprite teamed up with Blavity for this event. A lot of times companies don't know how to connect with our generation and the #GetVocal campaign is the perfect platform to let us connect with each other" said Bennett College student Mikayla Jones.

Students in attendance focused their conversations around politics, trending moments in today’s news cycle and the importance of using their voices to register to vote.

Sprite and Blavity both encourage you all to let your voices be heard at every and any moment.
