Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård is not holding back on his views of Donald Trump threatening to take over Greenland. Skarsgård expressed his thoughts unapologetically when he was interviewed at the European Film Awards in Berlin on Saturday, Deadline reported.

What did Stellan Skarsgård say about Donald Trump threatening to take over Greenland?

Skarsgård said it’s “absurd” that Trump wants to take over Greenland.

“It’s a little man who got megalomania, and he’s trying to take the world. He took Venezuela, suddenly, and that’s for Chevron. He’ll take Greenland for minerals. He’s a criminal,” Skarsgård said at the European Film Awards, per Deadline.

Skarsgård wasn’t the only one who shared his thoughts on Trump at the prestigious event on Saturday. Norwegian film director Joachim Trier also weighed in.

“Sitting in Europe today. I think that what we’ve learned from history is that the idea of appropriation of other countries and the idea of colonization is something that we suffer through guilt for in Europe, in the sense that we are trying to move forward from that idiotic idea,” Trier said, per Deadline.

Why does Donald Trump want Greenland?

While Trump claims that the U.S. needs Greenland for security reasons, his critics say the president is only looking to grab the country’s mineral resources. Trump’s desire for Greenland is drawing a resemblance to his actions in Venezuela, where the U.S. forcibly removed incumbent president Nicolás Maduro and made plans to grab the country’s oil production.

Trump’s relationship with Europe took another hit this week when he threatened to impose 25% trade tariffs on Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and Finland if the U.S. doesn’t acquire Greenland. While Trump continues to push his idea, European countries have repeatedly told him that Greenland is not for sale. Protesters in Denmark and Greenland are also taking a stand to let Trump know that he must stay out of Europe.
