Stephen Curry is definitely a household name, face, image … all that. From rap references to huge sponsorships, he's forever cemented in pop culture.
Recently, he sat down with ABC News to discuss the struggles of constantly being in the spotlight, something he kind of shares with former president Barack Obama.
Now, look, we all know that his fame is not nearly on the same level as the former leader of the free world, which Curry acknowledges. Still, the entire concept remains the same. You become a member of the public eye, and your life will never be the same.
"[Obama] was talking about the challenges of before he was in office," Curry said. "And I'm not comparing what I do to what he does, but he dropped a line. He said before he got into office, he didn't value his anonymity as he was going through life. He can't just go walk down the street and be in his own world and just unplug, if you will, from all the commotion, the attention, the people grabbing at you."
True story!
Basic and routine things such as walking down the street unbothered are surely things we all take for granted. It's hard to imagine what it is like to always have people taking pictures, and worse, grabbing you While fame may seem like a glamorous life, it is certainly not that overall.
"That's the one thing that's tough and what we do, we're obviously up front and center on TV," Curry added. And probably for the rest of their lives, they will be "up front and center" in some form.
At least if you have to struggle with fame, you've got Barack in your corner, Steph.
