T-Pain gave a very expensive gift this holiday season, footing his ill brother's $1.4 million hospital bill, according to People.
The “Buy U A Drank” singer posted about the bill Wednesday on Instagram, writing, “My brother was in two hospitals for a total of a month and some change. Just got the bills.”
The photo included with the post shows a summary of charges and their totals. One bill came to $1,132,746.67; the other to $270,231.40.
The musician didn't share what caused his brother to seek such extended care but did suggest whatever ailed the man was serious, writing, “Thank you to all the people that were involved in keeping my brother alive."
While T-Pain was fortunately able to cover his brother's expenses, a study from Debt.org suggests not all Americans are so fortunate. The organization found 60 percent of all bankruptcies in the U.S. are caused by medical bills.
As anyone who has been to the hospital knows, these bills can be quite expensive. The same report found the average U.S. hospital stay costs $15,734.
