Per Monday’s Television Critics Association press tour for ABC, we’ve learned Marvel’s unpopular Inhumans series will probably not continue.

“It didn’t perform for us at the level that we would have wanted. We haven’t made any official decisions yet, but I will say the numbers were less exciting for us as we hoped they would be. We developed a couple things this season that we don’t think are going to end up going forward, so we’re going to look really carefully about what we do next,” said network head, Channing Dungey.

Marvel’s Inhumans explores the never-before-told epic adventure of the Royal Family including Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city. Anson Mount, Ken Leung, Eme Ikwuakor, Isabelle Cornish, Mike Moh, Sonya Balmores, and Ellen Woglom star in the television series for ABC.

A version of the first two episodes, entirely with IMAX cameras, premiered exclusively in IMAX theatres for a two-week window in September 2017, prior to the 8-episode network run. The IMAX experiment provided to be unsuccessful, as the series would go on to be critically panned by most.

This announcement comes as two other series based on Marvel properties, The Gifted at Fox and Runaways at Hulu have both just recently been renewed.
