Although Lala and Carmelo Anthony used to be everyone’s #RelationshipGoals, now the whole world is talking about their breakup. Going through a breakup is hard for anyone, but when you are in the spotlight, it’s a whole different ball game. So how does a young woman, ambitious, driven and successful get over such a public heartbreak? And what does that mean for the rest of us who struggle with getting over the pain of relationships gone wrong, things that have happened in our past, etc?

Embrace All That You Are: It’s so easy to get caught up in who someone believes you should be whether it is in a relationship, a career change, or anything else. Recognize that you were created to be great, flaws and all. Take time and rediscover your passion for life. Learn to love yourself for the woman that you are and the woman you are destined to be.

Speak Your Truth: There comes a point in every relationship where you must own up to the role that you played- it’s the only way you can move forward. Accepting what happened will allow you to assess the things you need to work on to become a better person and help someone else with their relationship as well.

Know That You Deserve Love: Understand whatever you believe becomes your reality. Just because a relationship didn’t work out, it doesn’t mean that you aren’t worth a good relationship, marriage, etc. You are worthy of love, happiness and everything that is good to come your way.

Dealing with past hurt, whether it is a heartbreak or traumatic childhood experience, is never easy. In order to heal, you must be real with yourself. Figure out the direction you want to go in life, write out what you want out of a relationship and work towards BEING the person you desire to attract. Don’t beat yourself up over a failed relationship, it is not the end, but the beginning of a new and beautiful life.
