Only Murders in the Building is the new Hulu series that has garnered the acclaim of both fans and critics alike.

Created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman the comedic murder-mystery series follows three strangers (Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez) who “share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one. When a grisly death occurs inside their exclusive Upper West Side apartment building, the trio suspects murder and employs their precise knowledge of true crime to investigate the truth. As they record a podcast of their own to document the case, the three unravel the complex secrets of the building which stretch back years. Perhaps even more explosive are the lies they tell one another. Soon, the endangered trio comes to realize a killer might be living amongst them as they race to decipher the mounting clues before it’s too late.”

Recently, Shadow and Act spoke with series star Aaron Dominguez, who plays Oscar, aka Tie Dye Guy. A figure looming in the background for much of the season so far, Oscar comes into focus during the series’ pivotal fifth episode this week.

Dominguez explained the feeling of booking the role alongside this “trifecta” of Martin, Short and Gomez.

“It was definitely a dream,” he explained. “Kind of from the beginning, just being able to audition in the middle of that pandemic was something huge. Then, seeing who was attached already to the show, which was Steve Martin, and Martin Short, Selena Gomez…that in and of itself already draws you to want to do well and [makes you] want to further the process of being a part of something like that.”

“It took a while sometimes to kind of wrap my head around how much of an opportunity it was…and given the circumstances we were all kind of in last year….so even to just be reading for things and auditioning at the time was huge, because it was very quiet,” he continued. “And then to ultimately get the job and to get to work, more than anything was huge. And then to go to work every day with such professionals like these was like, ‘Ah, this is a dream come true for me.'”
