Former USA Gymnastic doctor, Larry Nassar was sentenced to 40-175 years in prison by Judge Rosemarie Aquilina, for mass sexual assault, according to The Hill. His fate comes after seven days of testimony.

Over 150 women — including champion Olympians Gabby Douglas, Simone Biles, Aly Raisman and McKayla Maroney — came forward to testify against Nassar.

Before sentencing, Nassar read a prepared statement. “There are no words that can describe the depth and breadth of how sorry I am,” he said. “I will carry your words with me for the rest of my days." Nassar had asked to be excused from listening to the testimony of those he abused; Aquilina denied his request.

“Your crime, all of your crimes, the depth of them, have cut into the core of this community and many communities,” said Aquilina as she handed out the sentence. “You did this for your pleasure. You still think that somehow you are right, that you are a doctor … I wouldn’t send my dogs to you, sir.”

“You do not deserve to walk outside of a prison ever,” she said, adding that it was her "honor and privilege" to sentence Nassar before telling the former team doctor, “I just signed your death warrant.”

In addressing the women who testified, Aquilina said "You are no longer victims, you are survivors.”

Prosecutor Angela Povilaitis echoed the judge's sentiments. "To each survivor, thank you,” Povilaitis said.

“Thank you for coming forward, for trusting us, for doing what is so hard and difficult. What is obvious is that a strong group of determined women can in fact change the world, and will,” Povilaitis continued.

Nassar was also sentenced to 60 years on child pornography charges. He also awaits sentencing on three charges of criminal sexual conduct in Eaton County, Michigan. He has pleaded guilty to those counts.
