Jay Z and The Weinstein Co. are teaming to the immortalize the tragedy of Trayvon Martin's murder in culture.

According to Hollywood Reporter, there will be a feature film as well as a televised series based on popular books exploring the events surrounding Trayvon's murder, the George Zimmerman trial and his subsequent acquittal. Jay Z and The Weinstein Co. have since adapted the rights to Suspicion Nation: The Inside Story of the Trayvon Martin Injustice, written by trial attorney and NBC analyst Lisa Bloom and Why We Continue to Repeat It and Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin, written by Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin.

Both the film and docuseries will be narrative accounts cementing the history of what happened during that time in our country, hopefully for the sole purpose of educating generations to come on where they have been and where it is they still must go. One will be scripted and the other will be unscripted, but there aren't any concrete details on which is which.

Jay Z came into the picture back in September of 2016, singing a first look deal with Weinstein Co. to produce both the film and televised series. After closing the deal, he released a statement saying, "I'm excited to tell stories from real-life prophets who, through their struggles, have changed the world for the better and others whose stories are filled with fantasy and delight…Harvey and David are visionaries, both of whom have done this time and time again. I'm already passionate about what we currently have in the pipeline, and I'm looking forward to discovering others."
