Tami Roman is a woman alone in a house full of racially-insensitive roommates on the latest episode of MTV series The Real World Homecoming: Los Angeles.

According to Cheat Sheet, Roman argued with housemates Glen Naessens and Irene Berrera-Kearns for saying the N-word during what should have been a meaningful discussion about race. Naessens was recounting when one of his friends was called the N-word while they were out. But instead of saying “the N-word” when recounting the story, Naessens, who is white, said the entire word, prompting Roman to angrily tell him not to say that word.

As Naessens argues that it was the other people in his story who said it, not him, Berrera-Kearns tries to defend Roman by telling Naessens, “You have no idea what it is to be a [N-word]. Do not ever say that.”

"You don't say it either," replied an exasperated Roman.

While this is the point the conversation went completely off the rails, Cheat Sheet writes how the conversation started out wrong from the beginning, when Jon Brennan, a white southerner, said “I live in the south, y’all. I live in Alabama. Do you know who’s in my house right now? Young, Black-colored people that I minister to and I’m a father figure.”

Roman told him not to call them “Black-colored people,” to which Brennan said, “Well, they don’t mind, They call themselves words I won’t repeat.”

The horrid conversation is sadly not the first time 'The Real World Homecoming: Los Angeles' has completely botched important topics.

Earlier in the series, Roman and the other houseguests revisit an incident from 1993’s The Real World in which Roman felt violated by Edwards when he ripped a blanket off of her, exposing Roman in her underwear. According to The Daily Beast, the event led to Berrera-Kearns and Beth Stolarczyk to convince the other male roommates to join them in kicking Edwards out of the house, making him the first person ever to be removed from a reality show.

On Homecoming, Roman and Edwards talk about the incident again, but Edwards still appears not to have learned anything from the incident, refusing to understand how Roman felt, especially after she revealed she was suffering from body dysmorphia at the time. Just like in 1993, Edwards appears glib about the incident, including erupting in laughter.
